So what do you do when you already lose power on the first cold snap of the season? You can’t work. You can’t watch Netflix. So I though, “Hey! I can drink a beer and jot down some thoughts!”
That’s what we call redeeming the time, right?
I’ve enjoyed Revolver’s Blood & Honey Ale for years but I’ve never tried their Blonde Ale until today.
It has strong citrus notes and a very mild hoppiness. This Granbury, TX brewery take water from the Trinity Aquifer, throws in some blood orange purée, some honey, the peels of 4 different kinds of citrus, and a bunch of hops and malt. And the result of this magic is a very bright, a very nicely hopped up beer for something that only registers as a 20IBU.
Interestingly enough, it pairs really well with Dove Milk Chocolate, but then again what doesn’t, right?
This beer tastes like a beautiful Texas autumn sunset. It really does. It’s a nice hoppy pop that’s just shy of an IPA and the citrus flavor really brightens it up. If you like the dank flavor of hops but IPAs are too much for you, this just may be the perfect gateway beer.
